Idaho drug and substance abuse treatment facilities provide care for individuals who use and abuse both illicit and prescription drugs. Drug and alcohol rehab centers in Idaho treat individuals who are addicted to a variety of drugs, with an increase in numbers of those that suffer from methamphetamine and prescription addiction.

As a state, Idaho has some of the lowest levels of drugs use when compared to other states across the nation. In fact, they can be found amongst the bottom 10 when it comes to pass month illicit drug use of those between 18 and 25, pass year of marijuana amongst those 26 years and older, pass year cocaine use amongst individuals 12 and older and past month alcohol amongst the 18-25-year-olds.
Unlike in many states, the past year rates of alcohol dependency and abuse has increased in Idaho quite a bit. This is especially true amongst those 12 to 17. In fact, that age group is amongst the highest in the country when it comes to alcohol dependency and abuse.
The rate of drug abuse has also increased a great deal except in the 26 and older range. Those Individuals are amongst the lowest in the country. In 2006, a study done by the National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services found that there were 57 drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities in the state of Idaho. The vast majority of Idaho drug and substance abuse centers do provide patients when a variety of care options with 50 out of 57 providing outpatient care. Thirteen offer residential care. There are nearly 18 doctors and 3 programs certified to use Buprenorphine treatment for individuals that have some sort of opiate addiction.
Seventy percent of Idaho alcohol and drug treatment centers do receive funds from the government with more than half of them offering care through managed-care organizations. A one day census by the N-SSATS organization counted 3,824 individuals receiving drug and/or alcohol abuse treatment in Idaho. More then 90 percent of these individuals were enrolled in some type of outpatient program. Ten percent of the 3,824 rehab patients were18 years and younger.
Like many states, the admittance to Idaho drug and/or alcohol abuse treatment facilities has declined for individuals seeking help only for alcohol addiction. This is also true for cocaine. There has however, been a pretty significant increase in the number of individuals in need of help for addiction to methamphetamines.
Methamphetamines are a growing problem amongst drug addicts in the state of Idaho. Idaho drug rehab centers are taking notice and are ramping up their services and treatment programs to handle this crisis.
